Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, particularly in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) — you've developed strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling that drive strategic initiatives. You are adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between financial plans and business objectives. Your analytical mindset allows you to perform detailed variance analysis and KPI tracking, providing valuable insights to stakeholders.

You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to prepare and present financial reporting packages to various audiences, including board members. Your experience includes supporting month-end close processes and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about contributing to sustainable growth through effective financial strategies.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the budgeting and forecasting processes across the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, ensuring that Substack scales efficiently. You will partner with teams across Accounting, HR, Partnerships, Engineering, and department leads to align financial plans with business objectives and headcount strategies. Your responsibilities will include preparing and presenting monthly and quarterly reporting packages, including budget vs. actuals and variance analysis.

You will perform detailed financial modeling and scenario analyses to inform strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, capital planning, and revenue forecasting. Additionally, you will support the month-end close process, collaborating with various teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Your insights will play a critical role in driving Substack's innovative approach to independent publishing.
