Supabase is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their Legal team. You'll negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements and advise on global privacy compliance. This role requires 10+ years of legal experience, particularly in tech and SaaS.
Job Description
Who you are
You have over 10 years of legal experience, with a strong background in technology and SaaS environments. Your expertise in commercial contracting and product counseling makes you an ideal fit for this role. You are licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction and have a deep understanding of privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA. Your business-minded approach allows you to navigate legal complexities while supporting product development and enterprise deals.
You thrive in asynchronous, fast-paced environments and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your experience in negotiating enterprise SaaS agreements, licensing deals, and partnership terms has equipped you with the skills necessary to help Supabase ship products faster and more efficiently. You are also familiar with building legal playbooks and compliance frameworks, ensuring that the company adheres to regulatory requirements.
Desirable
While not required, experience with IP/patents or open-source licensing would be a valuable addition to your skill set. Knowledge of international employment law and tax structuring for SaaS companies is also a plus, as it will enhance your ability to advise on global matters.
What you'll do
In this role, you will act as the primary product counsel, embedding yourself with product teams from concept through launch. Your responsibilities will include negotiating enterprise SaaS agreements and advising on global privacy compliance and regulatory requirements. You will build and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and compliance frameworks to streamline processes and mitigate risks. Your role will be crucial in helping Supabase avoid regulatory missteps and develop its intellectual property portfolio.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated into product development and enterprise negotiations. Your ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner will be essential in fostering collaboration between legal and product teams. You will also be involved in training and guiding team members on legal best practices, contributing to a culture of compliance and awareness within the organization.
