Job Description
Who you are
You are an experienced Staff Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in large-scale multimodal model systems engineering. With at least 5 years of experience in the field, you have a proven track record of designing and optimizing data infrastructure that supports advanced AI applications. Your expertise in Python and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and Keras allows you to build robust, production-ready systems that analyze complex data types.
You possess a deep understanding of data engineering principles and have experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS. Your skills in SQL and data manipulation enable you to handle large datasets effectively, ensuring data quality and accessibility for model training and deployment. You are passionate about leveraging AI to drive meaningful improvements in healthcare and are committed to ethical data handling practices.
Desirable
Experience with Docker and container orchestration tools is a plus, as it enhances your ability to deploy machine learning models in scalable environments. Familiarity with healthcare data, including genomics and clinical notes, will further strengthen your candidacy.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect, build, and maintain the critical data infrastructure that powers Tempus's generative AI models. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and software engineers, to ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs of complex multimodal systems. Your work will directly impact patient care by enabling the analysis of diverse data types, such as pathology images and radiology scans.
You will be responsible for optimizing data pipelines and ensuring the reliability and scalability of the systems you build. This includes implementing best practices for data governance and security, as well as developing monitoring and alerting systems to maintain operational excellence. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
