You'll leverage your expertise in mechanical design and analysis to lead the development of innovative propulsion systems. This role requires over 5 years of experience in rotating machinery.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, and over 5 years of hands-on experience developing rotating machinery or components from concept to working prototypes. Your expertise includes performing turbopump analyses, such as structural, modal, or rotordynamics, and you are familiar with turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing. You are detail-oriented and ensure that mechanical analyses meet the required standards for life and reliability targets.
You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy iterating on designs based on simulated and real-world test data. Your experience includes leading mechanical design projects, where you have successfully supported design iterations to turbopump assemblies and components, focusing on manufacturing improvements to reduce costs and lead times. You are passionate about innovation and are eager to contribute to the development of cutting-edge propulsion systems for space exploration.
What you'll do
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at The Exploration Company, you will lead the turbopump mechanical design from architecture to component design, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary performance and reliability standards. You will conduct detailed mechanical analyses on turbopump components and assemblies, reviewing them to ensure they meet life and reliability targets. Your role will involve supporting design iterations and collaborating with the Additive Manufacturing Senior Engineer to implement manufacturing improvements.
You will develop validation and verification tools dedicated to the mechanical design and development of turbopumps, ensuring that all designs are optimized for performance. You will also iterate on turbopump mechanical designs using simulated and real-world test data, contributing to the overall success of the propulsion systems division. Your work will play a crucial role in the development of Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle, as you help push the boundaries of space exploration technology.
What we offer
At The Exploration Company, we value innovation and collaboration. You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that aim to revolutionize space travel. We offer a supportive work environment where your contributions will directly impact the future of space exploration. Additionally, we provide relocation assistance for those willing to move to Munich, including visa sponsorship where applicable.
