Who you are

You hold a Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields β€” if you have a Ph.D., you bring at least 1+ years of industry experience, while an M.S. requires a minimum of 2+ years, and a Bachelor's degree necessitates 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role. You possess a strong foundation in SQL, Python, and/or R, enabling you to perform complex data analyses and statistical modeling. Your knowledge of experimental design and analysis, including advanced analytics, econometrics, and causal inference, sets you apart in your field.

You excel at collaborating cross-functionally, effectively communicating complex topics to diverse audiences β€” your ability to present economic reasoning and analytical results to senior leadership demonstrates your strong communication skills. You have a track record of working in teams, fostering collaboration, and contributing to a positive workplace culture. Your economic-minded approach allows you to develop strategic insights that drive product strategy and business priorities.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop and lead careful statistical and econometric analyses to support Uber's business priorities β€” this includes designing, running, and evaluating large-scale marketing experiments that inform product strategy across Uber’s Rides and Eats business. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop insights and research that align with their specific contexts, ensuring that your analyses are relevant and actionable. Presenting your findings to cross-functional audiences, including Uber’s senior leadership team, will be a key part of your responsibilities, requiring you to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.

You will be part of the Marketing Science team led by the Chief Economist, contributing to a global scope of work that impacts various aspects of Uber's operations. Your role will involve not only statistical analysis but also strategic thinking, as you help shape the direction of marketing initiatives through data-driven insights. You will be expected to stay updated on industry trends and best practices in marketing analytics, continuously seeking ways to enhance the effectiveness of Uber's marketing strategies.
