Overview

Uber is hiring a Head of LatAm Risk and Fraud to lead the risk operations team focused on detecting payment fraud and abuse prevention. Who you are

You have extensive experience in risk management, particularly in the payments sector, with a deep understanding of fraud prevention strategies and methodologies. Your background includes leading teams and driving operational excellence in high-stakes environments, ensuring that all operational metrics related to fraud and abuse are consistently met or exceeded.

You possess strong analytical skills, allowing you to monitor and interpret key performance indicators effectively. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Data Science, and Regional Operations, ensures that you can align initiatives with regional needs and business objectives.

Your leadership style is characterized by a focus on quality standards and vendor performance, driving outcomes within budgeted costs. You are adept at navigating complex challenges in the evolving threat landscape, particularly in the LATAM region, where you understand the unique fraud patterns and modus operandi.

Desirable

Experience in managing large-scale risk operations teams and a proven track record of reducing fraud losses through strategic planning and execution would be advantageous. Familiarity with digital payment systems and cash transactions is a plus, as is experience in policy enforcement and abuse prevention.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead Uber's largest scaled risk operations team, focusing on detecting payment fraud and abuse prevention across various marketplaces. You will act as the primary liaison between Product, Decision Science, and Local Teams, ensuring that all initiatives are captured, prioritized, and tracked effectively. Your responsibilities will include overseeing all risk KPIs to maintain losses under control, owning key P&L metrics such as chargebacks and refunds, and continuously monitoring performance to meet year-end targets.

You will drive the LATAM Risk planning cycle from end to end, establishing a strong roadmap based on regional needs and strategic priorities. Your role will require you to maintain high-quality standards and ensure effective protection against various fraud types, including friendly fraud and GPS spoofing. You will also be responsible for managing vendor performance and ensuring that operational execution aligns with the evolving threat landscape and business KPIs.
