You have 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building high-quality software that is relied upon by millions of users globally. Your educational background includes a relevant degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, which has equipped you with the skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You are comfortable working with ambiguity and enjoy tackling complex problems in large-scale distributed systems.
Your coding experience spans multiple languages, including C++, Java, Python, and Go, allowing you to adapt to various technical challenges. You have a passion for building performant distributed systems, focusing on correctness and consistency, and you understand the importance of scalability in software design. Your experience with distributed databases further enhances your ability to contribute to the team effectively.
What you'll do
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Catalog Platform team, you will be responsible for developing the Product Catalog and Inventory system that underpins the Uber Delivery experience. This foundational component interfaces with merchants and powers product search and recommendations for customers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the system is highly available and scalable, supporting Uber's global operations 24/7.
You will collaborate with other engineers to design and implement features that enhance the user experience for both customers and delivery partners. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers to foster their growth. You will also engage in discussions about system architecture and contribute to the technical direction of the team, ensuring that the solutions we build are robust and efficient.
