Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have tackled complex distributed systems challenges. Your deep expertise in TypeScript and Node.js allows you to design and implement scalable APIs that handle significant workloads efficiently. You are familiar with GraphQL and PostgreSQL, enabling you to optimize slow paths and ensure data integrity across systems. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with frontend and AI teams to create seamless user experiences. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you enjoy taking ownership of critical backend features that enhance system performance. You are proactive in proposing architectural improvements and implementing observability enhancements to maintain system reliability.

What you'll do

In this role, you will architect and deliver backend systems that keep Vizcom fast, reliable, and scalable as our workload and customer base grow. You will design and implement scalable APIs using TypeScript and Node.js, integrating GraphQL and PostgreSQL to optimize performance. Your responsibilities will include profiling and optimizing slow paths, building and operating distributed systems such as job queues and streaming services, and collaborating with AI engineers to integrate GPU inference pipelines into user workflows. You will have deep ownership over APIs, performance, and data integrity, ensuring that the backend systems support real-time collaboration and enterprise-level demands. Within your first 90 days, you will ship one critical backend feature, reduce latency in a major API path, and author a technical RFC proposing improvements to architecture or reliability.
