You have 4+ years of backend or infrastructure experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in building and maintaining production systems. Your experience includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring that both technical and non-technical members can work together effectively. You are product-minded and understand the importance of developing systems that are not only functional but also enhance user experience and operational efficiency.

Your expertise in C++ is complemented by a willingness to engage in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends and technologies. You thrive in environments where you can work closely with operations, product, legal, partnerships, and policy teams, ensuring that all aspects of the business are considered in your engineering solutions.

You are comfortable working in hybrid settings, balancing on-site collaboration with remote flexibility. Your communication skills allow you to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a collaborative atmosphere that drives project success.

What you'll do

As a Backend Software Engineer on the Driver Validation team, you will help build and evolve mission-critical horizontal infrastructure and tooling that underpins all commercialization systems. Your role will involve collaborating with other engineering teams to develop systems that integrate seamlessly with the Waymo Driver, mobile applications, and cloud backends. You will tackle cross-cutting problems that require innovative solutions and a deep understanding of both technical and functional requirements.
