Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning, with at least 5 years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models. Your expertise includes working with large datasets and building simulations that accurately reflect real-world scenarios. You are proficient in Python and have hands-on experience with frameworks like TensorFlow and Keras, which you have used to create complex models for various applications.

You understand the intricacies of autonomous systems and have a passion for improving their performance through advanced simulation techniques. Your experience includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into existing systems, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of reliability and accuracy.

You are a natural leader, capable of building and mentoring a high-performing research engineering team. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy sharing your knowledge with others, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale simulations and the ability to model realistic environments is a plus. Familiarity with other machine learning frameworks and tools will enhance your candidacy. What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the development of state-of-the-art simulations for Waymo's autonomous driving technology. You will be responsible for building a world-class research engineering team that focuses on advancing the fidelity and steerability of simulations using foundation models. Your work will involve designing and implementing machine learning algorithms that enhance the realism of simulations, allowing for more effective testing and training of the Waymo Driver.

You will collaborate closely with teams in Mountain View and Oxford, ensuring that the foundation models you develop are seamlessly integrated into various evaluation and training products. Your role will require you to stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning and simulation technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation within the team.

You will also be involved in setting up processes for data collection and analysis, ensuring that the simulations are based on accurate and comprehensive datasets. Your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness of the Waymo Driver, helping to improve safety and efficiency in autonomous driving.
