You have a strong background in applied Deep Learning, with experience in building and managing research engineering teams — you've successfully hired, mentored, and led teams to achieve ambitious goals. Your coding and design skills are top-notch, allowing you to tackle complex production problems using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. You understand the nuances of taking research to production, ensuring that theoretical advancements translate into practical applications.
You thrive in collaborative environments, having worked closely with cross-functional teams to push the boundaries of technology — your experience includes designing experiments that challenge the status quo and developing metrics to measure the realism of simulated worlds. You are passionate about the potential of autonomous vehicles and are eager to contribute to a mission that aims to improve mobility and save lives.
Desirable
Experience with large models and their integration into simulation environments is a plus, as is familiarity with the latest advancements in machine learning frameworks. What you'll do
In this role, you will help build and lead a world-class research engineering team dedicated to advancing the state of the art in ultra-realistic autonomous vehicle simulations. You will collaborate with Waymo's Machine Learning teams in London and Oxford, as well as the Google DeepMind team, to leverage large models that enhance the realism of simulations. Your responsibilities will include designing and conducting experiments that push the frontiers of AV simulations, as well as developing metrics that accurately measure the realism of simulated environments.
You will train and evaluate large models, integrating them into the simulator and its downstream applications. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding your team through the complexities of simulation technology, ensuring that they have the support and resources needed to excel. You will also play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within your team, encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous learning.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of £180,000—£194,000 GBP, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and an equity incentive plan.
