Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in machine learning and computer vision, with a strong background in developing models for real-world applications. Your expertise in Python and frameworks like TensorFlow and Keras allows you to build and optimize complex algorithms that enhance perception systems. You understand the intricacies of panoptic segmentation, instance segmentation, and semantic segmentation, and you are passionate about applying these skills to improve autonomous driving technology.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into larger systems. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders makes you an effective team player. Experience with large-scale datasets and the ability to leverage millions of miles of driving data is a plus. What you'll do
As a Staff Tech Lead, you will own the panoptic segmentation task, taking responsibility for task scaling and performance. You will lead efforts to align instance segmentation and semantic segmentation tasks with the overall goals of the Perception team. Your role will involve conducting research to address real-world challenges in autonomous driving, leveraging your expertise to develop innovative solutions.
You will collaborate with downstream teams to ensure seamless integration of perception systems into the Waymo Driver. This includes optimizing algorithms for real-time performance and working with diverse sensor data to enhance the vehicle's understanding of its environment. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and reliability of autonomous driving technology.
In addition to technical responsibilities, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the team. You will participate in design reviews and provide guidance on best practices in machine learning and computer vision. Your leadership will help shape the direction of the Perception team and ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet high-quality standards.
