Your proficiency in C++ or Python allows you to tackle challenging technical problems effectively. You have a keen interest in autonomous vehicles or robotics, which aligns with Waymo's mission to improve mobility and safety through technology.
Your experience with machine learning models in production systems has equipped you with the skills to enhance model performance while maintaining interpretability and behavioral guarantees. You are adept at investigating driving behavior issues from logs, allowing you to understand root causes and implement effective solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to advance the capabilities of the Waymo Driver.
Desirable
Experience in autonomous vehicles or robotics is preferred, as it will help you navigate the unique challenges of this role. What you'll do
In this hybrid role, you will report to the Technical Lead of Planner Technology. Your primary responsibility will be to investigate driving behavior issues from logs, identifying root causes and implementing improvements. You will work on enhancing the performance of state-of-the-art machine learning models used in the Waymo Driver, ensuring they can handle a wide range of driving scenarios effectively.
You will develop foundational frameworks that support the advancement of the Waymo Driver's capabilities, contributing directly to solving some of the most challenging driving situations. Your work will have a significant impact on the safety and efficiency of autonomous driving technology, as you expand the influence of machine learning models while preserving their interpretability.

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $238,000 to $302,000 USD for this full-time position, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
