Who you are
You have extensive experience in machine learning and software engineering, with a strong background in developing production-grade systems. Your expertise in Python and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and Keras allows you to build and optimize complex algorithms that drive autonomous vehicle technology. You understand the intricacies of simulation workflows and can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring machine learning solutions to production. Your analytical mindset enables you to assess and improve the performance of machine learning models, ensuring they meet the high standards required for autonomous driving applications.
You are familiar with cloud platforms such as AWS, which you leverage to deploy scalable machine learning solutions. Your experience includes working with large datasets and implementing data pipelines that support model training and evaluation. You are comfortable navigating the challenges of integrating machine learning into existing systems and are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to share your knowledge with others, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team success.
Desirable
Experience with reinforcement learning or advanced simulation techniques would be a plus, as would familiarity with other programming languages or tools relevant to machine learning and data analysis. You are open to exploring new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the capabilities of the Waymo Driver.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing machine learning algorithms that enhance the Waymo Driver's understanding of its environment. You will collaborate with the Driver Understanding and Evaluation team to create robust evaluation metrics and ensure the reliability of the autonomous driving system. Your work will involve building and operating large-scale machine learning systems that process vast amounts of data from both real-world driving and simulation.
You will engage in cross-team collaborations to integrate machine learning solutions into production systems, ensuring that the algorithms you develop are scalable and efficient. Your contributions will directly impact the performance of the Waymo Driver, helping to improve safety and reliability in autonomous driving scenarios. You will also participate in the design and implementation of simulation workflows that allow for comprehensive testing and evaluation of the Waymo Driver's capabilities.
What we offer
Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $238,000—$302,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
