You have a strong background in safety engineering, with experience in developing safety strategies and policies for autonomous vehicles. Your expertise includes conducting safety analyses and working with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. You are skilled in scenario-based testing frameworks and evaluation methodologies, which are crucial for advancing safety in autonomous driving technology.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and regulatory bodies. Your ability to translate complex safety concepts into actionable strategies is key to promoting safety within the organization. You are detail-oriented and have a strong analytical mindset, enabling you to identify potential safety risks and develop mitigation strategies.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead research efforts focused on developing and refining safety case content that is specifically connected to evaluation methodologies and scenario-based testing frameworks. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Safety Management and Best Practices to ensure that safety considerations are integrated throughout the design and development processes of Waymo's autonomous vehicles. Your work will involve conducting thorough safety engineering analyses and promoting safety strategies that align with regulatory requirements.
You will also engage with external stakeholders, including lawmakers and public organizations, to advocate for safety policies that support the advancement of autonomous driving technology. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing the safety of Waymo's fully autonomous ride-hail service, which has already completed over ten million rider-only trips. You will be part of a dedicated team that is committed to making autonomous driving a safe and reliable mode of transportation.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of £105,000—£113,000 GBP, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
