Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing systems that leverage machine learning and statistical methods. Your background includes a strong understanding of importance sampling techniques and their application in real-world scenarios, especially in the context of autonomous systems. You are proficient in Python and have experience working with large datasets, enabling you to extract meaningful insights from complex data. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with engineers, data scientists, and statisticians to optimize evaluation pipelines. You are detail-oriented and thrive in environments that require innovative problem-solving under resource constraints.

Desirable

Experience with autonomous driving technologies or related fields is a plus. Familiarity with data logging and simulation systems will enhance your ability to find signals in logs that contribute to the discovery of rare events. A background in statistical analysis and optimization techniques will further strengthen your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop and implement importance sampling techniques that enhance the efficiency of Waymo's evaluation pipelines. Your work will involve analyzing logs and simulations to identify signals that can lead to the discovery of rare and significant events in autonomous driving. You will build systems that systematically optimize multiple objectives while adhering to resource constraints, ensuring that the evaluation process is both effective and efficient. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with a diverse team of engineers, data scientists, and statisticians to refine and improve the evaluation methodologies. What we offer

Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
