You have 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in data-driven environments where you've developed and implemented complex algorithms. Your expertise in Python and Java allows you to build scalable solutions that can handle large datasets effectively. You possess a strong understanding of machine learning principles and have applied them in real-world scenarios, particularly in evaluating software performance. Your analytical mindset enables you to derive insights from data, driving improvements in software quality and performance. You are comfortable working in a hybrid environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. You are passionate about autonomous vehicles and the impact they can have on society, and you are eager to contribute to innovative projects that push the boundaries of technology.

Desirable

Experience with simulation technologies and methodologies is a plus, as is familiarity with autonomous driving systems. You have a background in data analysis and are skilled in using various tools to visualize and interpret complex datasets. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new technologies will set you apart in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop novel methodologies and metrics to measure simulation realism across multiple simulator technologies, focusing on aspects such as agent behavior and environmental effects. You will design scalable and efficient platforms and pipelines for measuring simulation realism, ensuring that the systems you create can handle massive datasets effectively. Your work will involve researching and implementing best practices in software evaluation, contributing to the overall quality of the Waymo Driver software stack. You will collaborate closely with other engineers and data scientists, sharing insights and findings to enhance the team's collective knowledge and capabilities. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, ensuring high standards of software quality are maintained.

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
