Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines. Your background includes working with machine learning models and data infrastructure, ensuring that high-quality datasets are delivered reliably. You are proficient in Python and have a solid understanding of data engineering principles, which allows you to effectively collaborate with ML and research teams. You are comfortable applying machine learning techniques such as embeddings and active learning to enhance data processing workflows. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to integrate data into the model lifecycle. You are detail-oriented and have a strong focus on delivering high-quality results that directly impact the performance of perception models.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP is a plus, as is familiarity with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Airflow. You may also have a background in autonomous driving technology or related fields, which would further enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and improve large-scale data pipelines that serve machine learning and research teams at Waymo. You will deploy and maintain data flows to ensure reliable and high-quality dataset delivery, which is crucial for the training and evaluation of perception models. Your work will involve applying machine learning techniques to optimize data processing and enhance the capabilities of the Waymo Driver. You will collaborate closely with teams across ML, simulation, and infrastructure to integrate data into the model lifecycle, ensuring that the perception models have access to diverse and high-quality data. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall improvement of the team's engineering practices.

What we offer

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $170,000 to $216,000 USD, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
