Who you are

You have a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with 5+ years of backend or infrastructure experience. You are product-minded and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams, including non-technical members, to develop and deliver business-critical infrastructure. Your experience includes working in environments that require strong communication and collaboration skills, and you are eager to solve hard, real-world problems such as world simulation for regression testing and evaluation of software services managing fleets for autonomous vehicles.

You possess deep expertise in C++ and are willing to participate in professional development activities to stay current on industry knowledge. You thrive in a hybrid work environment and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the commercialization of autonomous driving technology. You understand the importance of developer productivity and operations tooling, and you are motivated to help scale systems to meet the demands of commercial expansion and growing complexity.

Desirable

Experience with operations tooling, developer productivity, or developer tools is preferred, as is a willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional development. You are someone who enjoys tackling complex challenges and is passionate about improving access to mobility while saving lives through technology.

What you'll do

In this role, you will help build and evolve mission-critical horizontal infrastructure and tooling that underpins all commercialization systems at Waymo. You will collaborate with other engineering teams to develop systems and processes as business needs grow and evolve. Your work will involve scaling systems to meet the demands of commercial expansion and addressing the growing complexity of autonomous vehicle technology.

You will be responsible for solving hard, real-world problems, such as world simulation for regression testing and evaluation of software services that manage fleets of autonomous vehicles. Your contributions will directly impact the effectiveness and reliability of the Waymo Driver, which powers the company's fully autonomous ride-hail service.

You will report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, product, legal, partnerships, and policy & privacy. Your role will require you to engage in technical discussions and collaborate effectively with team members from various backgrounds to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure solutions.
