You have 6+ years of backend or infrastructure experience, demonstrating a strong ability to build production systems at scale. Your background includes working collaboratively with both technical and non-technical team members, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the development process. You are eager to stay current with industry knowledge and are open to participating in professional development activities. Your experience with operations tooling, developer productivity, or developer tools will be highly valued in this role.
You possess deep expertise in C++ and are comfortable navigating complex systems. You understand the importance of building robust infrastructure that can scale with business needs and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the future of transportation. You thrive in environments that require cross-team collaboration and are adept at communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Desirable
Experience with cloud backends and mobile applications will be a plus, as you will be working on cross-cutting problems that require a holistic understanding of various systems. What you'll do
In this role, you will help build and evolve mission-critical horizontal infrastructure and tooling that underpins all commercialization systems at Waymo. You will collaborate with other engineering teams to develop systems and processes that adapt as business needs grow and evolve. Your work will be crucial in scaling our systems to meet the demands of commercial expansion and growing user bases.
You will engage in cross-team collaboration, working closely with operations, product, legal, partnerships, policy, and privacy teams to ensure that the infrastructure you develop meets all necessary requirements. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of Waymo's core ride-hailing and fleet management systems.
You will also be responsible for identifying areas for improvement within existing systems and processes, proposing solutions, and implementing changes that enhance overall performance. Your ability to think critically and strategically will be essential as you navigate the complexities of building infrastructure for autonomous driving technology.
