Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building scalable systems and leading technical teams. Your expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++ allows you to tackle complex challenges effectively. You are familiar with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and have experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Your leadership skills enable you to mentor and guide engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
You understand the importance of data processing and infrastructure in supporting autonomous systems. Your experience in developing backend systems equips you with the knowledge to design robust solutions that can handle high volumes of data and low-latency requirements. You are passionate about solving open-ended business problems and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the future of mobility.
Desirable
Experience with mapping technologies or autonomous systems is a plus. Familiarity with machine learning concepts and data analysis tools will enhance your ability to drive the team's success. What you'll do
In this role, you will lead a new team focused on Field Response infrastructure, playing a crucial part in Waymo's rapid expansion. You will own the strategy and roadmap for Mapping change detection, which is essential for scaling our mapping capabilities. Your responsibilities will include hiring and leading a team of engineers, guiding them to solve complex technical challenges while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
You will design and build business-critical systems that respond to signals from Waymo's fleet, ensuring low-latency actions are taken to enhance safety and efficiency. Your work will involve creating robust backend infrastructure and data processing systems that can scale with Waymo's growing needs. You will collaborate with various teams within Waymo to ensure that the mapping data is effectively utilized across different applications.
What we offer
Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $238,000—$302,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
