You are a backend engineer with over 4 years of experience building server-side infrastructure and data processing systems. Your solid coding skills in C++ allow you to create efficient and scalable solutions. You have a strong sense of ownership and thrive in collaborative environments, contributing to high-impact projects that drive innovation in autonomous driving technology.
You understand the complexities of working with large datasets and have experience in developing robust backend systems that can handle the demands of real-time data processing. Your ability to work closely with cross-functional teams ensures that the infrastructure you build meets the needs of various stakeholders, including those who consume map data.
You are passionate about improving access to mobility and saving lives through technology. Your experience in backend engineering has equipped you with the skills to tackle challenges in building high-resolution maps that support safe autonomous driving. You are eager to make significant contributions to Waymo's Mapping stack, including infrastructure development, tooling improvements, and algorithm advancements.
Desirable
Experience with other programming languages or technologies related to data processing and infrastructure development would be a plus. Familiarity with autonomous systems or mapping technologies can enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own business-critical infrastructure responsible for generating Waymo’s 3D map from raw sensor data. You will build robust backend systems and data processing solutions that will scale with Waymo’s growth. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the efficiency and accuracy of the mapping technology that powers Waymo’s autonomous ride-hail service.
You will collaborate with various teams within Waymo to ensure that the infrastructure you develop meets the needs of those who rely on map data for their operations. This includes working on tooling improvements that enhance the development process and algorithm advancements that improve the quality of the maps generated.
Your role will involve not only coding but also participating in design discussions, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers. You will be expected to contribute to the overall technical direction of the mapping team and help shape the future of autonomous driving technology.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and an equity incentive plan. You will also benefit from a generous company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
