Who you are
You have a solid background as a hands-on engineer and have realized that you can have more impact through your organization as a leader. You are excited to lead talented teams of engineers to improve and expand products while maintaining a commitment to high engineering quality standards. You understand the importance of developing and coaching 'whole engineers' who take ownership of their projects. You thrive in environments where you can guide engineers to take full responsibility for their work, including working with cross-functional stakeholders directly and authoring their own engineering designs.
You are passionate about building a strong engineering organization and take a first principles approach to problems like hiring, performance reviews, and project management. You believe in fostering a culture of ownership and accountability within your team, encouraging engineers to take initiative and drive their projects forward. You have experience in mentoring and developing engineers, helping them grow into well-rounded professionals who can tackle complex challenges.

As an Engineering Manager at Wealthfront, you will lead a team of engineers dedicated to building a better financial system. You will be responsible for identifying and developing talent within your team, ensuring that each engineer has the support they need to succeed. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals, ensuring that your team delivers high-quality products that meet user needs.
You will oversee the engineering design process, guiding your team in authoring their own designs and implementations. You will take an active role in performance management, conducting regular one-on-ones and providing constructive feedback to help your team members grow. You will also be involved in hiring new talent, ensuring that you bring in individuals who align with the company's values and culture.
In addition to team management, you will contribute to the overall development of the engineering organization. You will help establish best practices for project management and performance reviews, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining high engineering quality standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
