Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in engineering management, particularly in reliability engineering or infrastructure. You understand the importance of building reliable software and have a track record of leading teams to achieve high service level objectives (SLOs). Your expertise in incident response and load testing has equipped you to handle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment. You are skilled in observability practices and can implement effective traffic control mechanisms to ensure system resilience. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in reliability and performance.
Desirable
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS is a plus, as is familiarity with tools and frameworks that enhance observability and incident management. You are comfortable with data-driven decision-making and can leverage metrics to guide your team's efforts. A background in e-commerce or marketplace platforms would be beneficial, as it provides context for the unique challenges faced in this space.
What you'll do
As the Engineering Manager for Reliability Engineering at Whatnot, you will oversee a team dedicated to enhancing the reliability of our platform. Your role will involve setting the vision and strategy for reliability initiatives, ensuring that all engineering teams have the tools and processes they need to build and operate reliable software. You will lead efforts to define and monitor SLOs, ensuring that we meet our reliability goals as we scale. You will also engage in load testing and resilience testing to validate our systems under various conditions, ensuring they can handle the demands of our growing user base.
