Backend Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You have a solid background in backend development, with experience building scalable and secure systems that support millions of users. Your expertise in programming languages such as Python allows you to contribute effectively to the development of WHOOP's platform. You understand the importance of data privacy and security, and you are familiar with concepts like AuthN/AuthZ, which are crucial for protecting user data.

You are comfortable working with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and have experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product security and application infrastructure, enables you to contribute to the overall success of the organization. You are proactive in identifying areas for improvement and are eager to implement best practices in software development.

Desirable

Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) practices is a plus, as it aligns with WHOOP's commitment to scalable and reliable systems. What you'll do

As a Software Engineer II at WHOOP, you will play a key role in enhancing the backend systems that power our platform. Your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining scalable services that ensure a seamless experience for our members. You will collaborate closely with the product security team to implement secure-by-default guardrails and compliance measures, ensuring that our systems adhere to the highest standards of data privacy.

You will also work with the application infrastructure team to improve the scalability and reliability of our services. This includes optimizing existing systems, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
