Who you are

You are a motivated student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, demonstrating strong academic performance and a genuine interest in the future of mobility. You possess intellectual curiosity and are eager to engage in hands-on projects that contribute to innovative solutions in the automotive industry. Your collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively in teams will help you thrive in a dynamic environment.

You have experience with design and prototyping tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, allowing you to contribute to the development of vehicle systems. Familiarity with MATLAB will enable you to support simulation and validation tasks effectively. You are open to learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies, ensuring that you can make meaningful contributions during your internship.

Desirable

Experience with CNC programming or automated manufacturing processes would be a plus, as you may work closely with the Manufacturing Prototyping team. A background in vehicle systems or mechanical design will enhance your ability to support various engineering tasks across different teams.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Zoox, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects that contribute to the development of fully autonomous electric vehicles. You will collaborate with the Body Structures team to design and validate vehicle systems, focusing on safety structures and aesthetic components. Your role will involve engineering design, testing, and concept fabrication, allowing you to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting.

You will also support the Manufacturing Prototyping team by developing automated CNC part programming solutions. This will involve working closely with Mechanical Prototype Engineering and Fabrication teams to ensure that prototypes meet design specifications and quality standards. Your contributions will help streamline the prototyping process and enhance the efficiency of manufacturing operations.

In addition, you will assist the Serviceability team with design assessments and tooling development, ensuring that maintenance and repair procedures are effective and efficient. Your insights will help improve the overall serviceability of the vehicles, contributing to a better user experience.

You will engage with the Infotainment and Sensing team to support simulation and validation tasks for mechanical sensor structures. This will involve defining cleanability tests and ensuring that the sensors function optimally in various conditions. Your attention to detail and analytical skills will be crucial in this aspect of the role.
