Devops Engineer • Lead

Who you are

You have extensive experience in infrastructure development, utilizing diverse approaches to assess challenges from both technical and operational perspectives. As a knowledgeable expert, you ensure that your team and clients understand operational requirements and share the responsibility for designing and implementing infrastructure for software services. You are adept at adopting a DevOps mindset, moving away from rigid traditional methods towards a customer-centric agile approach.

You possess the ability to design and build enterprise and/or web-level hosting platforms, seamlessly managing application servers, web servers, and databases. Your deep understanding of cloud and virtualization platforms, infrastructure automation, and application hosting technologies enables you to lead infrastructure and operations through DevOps principles, agile methodologies, and infrastructure as code.

You have relevant experience with server virtualization, IaaS and PaaS clouds, and configuration management tools. Proficiency in at least one scripting language and familiarity with building Linux and/or Windows server systems are part of your skill set. You have experience with continuous integration tools across various technology stacks, whether web or mobile.

You have previously utilized observability patterns with monitoring systems for stress and performance testing, distributed tracing, log aggregation, and health checks. Experience with unit testing and automated testing tools is a plus. You enjoy interacting with team members across the organization and have a knack for conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

What you'll do

In this role, you will initiate projects through practical implementation, assess and drive improvements in existing infrastructure, and listen to client needs to develop technical roadmaps and effective solutions that support challenging business objectives. You will collaborate with business development, marketing, and functional development teams to shape and build Thoughtworks' cloud and infrastructure practices.

You will ensure and establish controls and processes for continuous delivery of applications, considering all stages of processes and their automation. Monitoring and ensuring that technical expectations for deliverables are consistently met on projects will be part of your responsibilities. You will act as a thought leader in DevOps, cloud, and infrastructure engineering at client sites and within Thoughtworks, building trust and thoughtful partnerships with clients' CIOs, CTOs, and relevant teams.

You will propose innovative solutions in response to current constraints and business strategy adjustments, helping clients navigate their infrastructure challenges effectively. Your role will involve significant interaction with infrastructure technicians, support and network analysts, security analysts, system administrators, and IT managers to design technical strategies while collaborating with senior IT teams in a consulting capacity.
