Devops Engineer • Lead

Who you are

You have extensive experience in infrastructure development and a strong understanding of both technical and operational challenges — your role is to help clients transition to agile methodologies and adopt a customer-centric approach. You are skilled in designing and building enterprise-level hosting platforms, seamlessly managing application servers, web servers, and databases. Your deep knowledge of cloud and virtualization platforms, infrastructure automation, and application hosting technologies allows you to lead infrastructure and operations effectively. You are familiar with DevOps principles, agile methodologies, and infrastructure as code, which you use to guide teams in implementing best practices.

You have hands-on experience with server virtualization, IaaS, and PaaS cloud solutions, as well as configuration management tools. Your scripting skills in at least one language enable you to automate processes and improve efficiency. You are comfortable building and maintaining Linux and/or Windows server systems, and you have experience with continuous integration tools across various technology stacks. Your familiarity with observability patterns and monitoring systems allows you to conduct performance testing and ensure system reliability.

You enjoy collaborating with team members across the organization and have a knack for communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences. You thrive on creating robust, scalable, and flexible solutions that drive business transformation. You can work directly with infrastructure technicians, support analysts, security analysts, system administrators, and IT managers to design technical strategies while also collaborating with senior IT teams as a consultant.

Desirable

Experience with unit testing and automated testing tools is a plus, as is a passion for continuous learning and development in the tech field. You appreciate the value of mentorship and are eager to share your knowledge with others.

What you'll do

In this role, you will initiate projects through practical implementation, assess and drive improvements in existing infrastructure, and listen to client needs to develop effective technical roadmaps. You will collaborate with business development, marketing, and functional development teams to shape and build Thoughtworks' cloud and infrastructure practices. You will ensure that controls and processes are established for continuous delivery of applications, considering all stages of the process and their automation. Monitoring and ensuring that technical expectations are met on projects will be a key responsibility, as will acting as a thought leader in DevOps, cloud, and infrastructure engineering at client sites and within Thoughtworks.

You will build trusting partnerships with clients' CIOs, CTOs, and relevant teams, proposing innovative solutions to current constraints and business strategy adjustments. Your role will involve leading discussions on infrastructure and operations, ensuring that your team and clients understand operational requirements, and sharing the responsibility for designing and implementing software services.
