Job Description

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems — your hands-on experience allows you to troubleshoot complex equipment effectively. You understand the importance of maintaining mission-critical technology infrastructure and are committed to ensuring seamless operations that power global digital experiences. You thrive in environments where you can apply your technical skills to solve real-world problems, and you are eager to contribute to a team that values precision and reliability.

You have a background in electrical engineering, which equips you with the knowledge to work with three-phase electrical systems, including switch gear, UPSs, and PDUs. Your mechanical engineering skills enable you to maintain and troubleshoot systems such as centrifugal chillers and cooling towers. You are detail-oriented and understand the significance of maintaining an extraordinary uptime in data center operations.

You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. You communicate effectively with colleagues and are comfortable working alongside software, hardware, and network engineers. Your ability to adapt to new challenges and learn quickly makes you a valuable asset to any team.

Desirable

Experience with diesel generators and fuel systems is a plus, as is familiarity with data center operations. You may also have certifications or training related to electrical or mechanical systems, which would further enhance your qualifications for this role.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of our data centers. Your primary responsibilities will include operating and troubleshooting mission-critical facilities, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. You will work with stand-by diesel generators, three-phase electrical systems, and various cooling and power equipment to maintain the infrastructure that supports AWS global operations.

You will be responsible for conducting regular maintenance checks and responding to any operational issues that arise. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining our commitment to 99.999% uptime, which is essential for our customers' digital experiences. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to address challenges and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to participate in projects aimed at improving data center operations. You will be involved in troubleshooting equipment failures and implementing corrective actions to prevent future issues. Your contributions will help ensure that our data centers remain reliable and efficient, supporting the growing demands of our customers.

What we offer

At Amazon, we offer a competitive hourly wage ranging from $28.00 to $50.00, depending on your experience and qualifications. You will also have access to a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) matching program. We value work-life balance and provide paid time off and parental leave to support our employees.

You will join a company that is committed to innovation and excellence in technology. Our team is dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment where you can grow your skills and advance your career. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what matter most.

Join us at Amazon and be part of a team that keeps the cloud running smoothly and efficiently, ensuring that our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
