Overview

Amazon is hiring a Hardware Development Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced Customer Terminal products for their satellite initiative. You'll work on high-speed digital and RF circuit design, PCB layout, and testing. This position requires 3+ years of hardware design experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 3+ years of experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems, and systems — you've worked on projects that required a deep understanding of electronic systems and their integration. Your educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics, or a related field, which has equipped you with the necessary technical skills. You possess knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards and source control management.

You are proficient in designing high-speed digital and RF circuits and have experience in schematic capture and PCB layout design — your attention to detail ensures that designs are optimized for performance and manufacturability. You are familiar with designing DC/DC power supplies and Point of Load systems, and you understand the importance of flow-down requirement definitions and generating test plans and procedures.

You have experience in board bring-up and performing test campaigns of modules and subsystems — your analytical skills allow you to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. You are also capable of supporting the design of automated test systems and test fixtures, ensuring that products meet quality standards before mass production. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be part of the Amazon Leo initiative, working on the development of advanced Customer Terminal products for a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. You will design high-speed digital and RF circuits, collaborating with various teams to ensure that all components work seamlessly together. Your responsibilities will include schematic capture and leading PCB layout design and reviews, ensuring that all designs meet the required specifications and standards.

You will also be involved in the design and optimization of different blocks of electronics subsystems, focusing on performance and reliability. As part of your role, you will support the flow-down requirement definitions and generate comprehensive test plans and procedures to validate the designs. You will conduct board bring-up and perform test campaigns of modules and subsystems, identifying any issues and working to resolve them promptly.

Additionally, you will support the design of automated test systems and test fixtures, playing a crucial role in ensuring that products are ready for mass production. Your contributions will help provide low latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world, making a significant impact on global connectivity.

What we offer

At Amazon, you will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence. We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity and sign-on payments, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that has the potential to change the way people connect globally. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
