Overview

Amazon is hiring an RF Systems Scientist to lead analytics and scientific research for their LEO satellite initiative. You'll work with machine learning and data science to enhance system performance and calibration. This role requires expertise in RF communications and statistical methods.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in RF communications and data science, with experience in developing and validating phased array systems. Your expertise in machine learning allows you to design and implement statistical methods that enhance system performance and reliability. You are skilled in transforming raw telemetry data into actionable insights, ensuring that deployed systems meet performance expectations. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and efficiency in antenna calibration and deployment workflows.

You possess a deep understanding of data modeling and analytics, enabling you to own metrics that describe end-to-end calibration processes. Your analytical mindset helps you identify calibration issues and quantify array performance effectively. You are familiar with building data and machine learning pipelines that automate checks and improve the reproducibility of workflows. You have a passion for closing the digital divide and are motivated by the impact of your work on underserved communities.

Desirable

Experience with anomaly detection and drift detection methods is a plus, as is familiarity with satellite communications and broadband technologies. You are comfortable working with large datasets and have a knack for deriving insights that inform strategic decisions. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is an asset, as you will often collaborate with various teams across the organization.

What you'll do

In this role, you will take ownership of analytics and scientific research for Amazon's LEO satellite initiative. You will design and implement machine learning and statistical methods to enhance the performance of phased array systems used in customer and satellite-deployed terminals. Your responsibilities will include developing metrics and data models that describe calibration and system performance from factory tests through field deployment.

You will work closely with calibration and validation teams to ensure that every deployed system performs to expectations. By transforming raw test and telemetry data into actionable insights, you will help detect calibration issues and quantify array performance. Your work will directly contribute to the effectiveness and automation of antenna calibration and deployment workflows, making a significant impact on the overall mission of providing global broadband access.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including test engineering and systems engineering, to drive improvements in system performance. Your insights will inform the development of new algorithms and methodologies that enhance the reliability and efficiency of satellite communications. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the team.

What we offer

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits. You will have the chance to work on groundbreaking technology that aims to transform global broadband access. The work environment is collaborative and innovative, with a focus on professional development and growth opportunities.
