Overview

Amazon is hiring a Senior RF System Engineer for the Amazon LEO initiative to enhance global broadband access through satellite technology. You'll be responsible for modeling and performance analysis of satellite links and RF sub-systems, utilizing skills in AWS and Linux.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in RF systems analysis and design, with at least 5 years of experience in the field. Your expertise includes end-to-end modeling and performance analysis of complex satellite links, and you are comfortable working with RF sub-systems such as modems and RF front-ends. You possess a solid understanding of phased array technology and space/ground channel models, which allows you to effectively contribute to the design and validation of satellite communication systems.

Your analytical skills are complemented by your software development experience, enabling you to engage with real hardware and ensure that performance targets are met at scale. You are adept at developing and maintaining RF system and link models, including link budgets and impairment modeling, and you have a proven track record of performing system-level simulations of digital phased array architectures.

You are detail-oriented and have the ability to define and flow down system performance requirements to hardware and RFIC teams. Your collaborative nature allows you to work closely with cross-functional teams, including phased array, RF communications, EMC, and calibration teams, to achieve project goals.

Desirable

Experience with satellite communications and knowledge of 3GPP standards would be a plus. Familiarity with performance trade studies and the ability to correlate simulations with lab and field measurements will enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own the end-to-end modeling and performance analysis of satellite links for the Amazon LEO initiative. You will develop and maintain RF system and link models, focusing on 3GPP style link analysis, access, and feeder links. Your responsibilities will include conducting link budgets, impairment modeling, and performance trade studies to ensure optimal system performance.

You will perform system-level simulations of digital phased array architectures and RF signal chains, correlating your findings against lab and field measurements to validate your models. Additionally, you will define and flow down system performance requirements such as EIRP, G/T, EVM, ACLR, NF, and linearity to hardware and RFIC teams, ensuring that all components meet stringent performance targets.

Your role will also involve collaborating with various teams to drive architecture and hardware requirements, as well as contributing to the calibration and validation of the systems you design. You will engage in continuous improvement efforts, leveraging your analytical skills to identify areas for enhancement in system performance and reliability.

What we offer

At Amazon, we offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, financial, and other perks. You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that aims to close the digital divide and provide broadband access to underserved communities worldwide. Join us in making a significant impact through innovative satellite communication solutions.
