Who you are
You have a strong background in systems development engineering, particularly in automation and operations. Your experience includes overseeing high-availability services and collaborating with global teams to enhance operational efficiency. You are comfortable participating in on-call rotations and resolving incidents as they arise. Your technical expertise allows you to influence the evolution of AWS services and technology, ensuring they meet the needs of EU customers.
You possess a deep understanding of utility computing and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud initiative. What you'll do
In this role, you will spearhead the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud, working closely with the AWS Managed Operations team. Your responsibilities will include building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services. You will collaborate with global AWS teams to ensure the successful rollout of the ESC in 2025, influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology.
A typical day will involve enhancing day-to-day operations and ensuring improvements in service availability and performance. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of operational strategies that align with AWS' commitment to customer satisfaction. Your role will require you to engage with various stakeholders, ensuring that the services provided meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
You will also participate in on-call rotations, addressing incidents that occur outside of regular hours. This aspect of the role is crucial for maintaining the high availability of services for EU customers. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of best practices and operational guidelines that will shape the future of AWS services in Europe.
