Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, particularly in firmware design and implementation. Your expertise in C programming allows you to write clean, robust, and testable code tailored for embedded applications. You are familiar with the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, and have a strong understanding of hardware-software integration.

You possess a deep knowledge of embedded Linux and have experience working closely with hardware engineers to bring up new sensing chipsets and processors. Your debugging skills are top-notch, enabling you to efficiently resolve system issues related to firmware. You are also comfortable specifying and documenting communication protocols and system states in collaboration with other teams.

As a mentor, you enjoy guiding less experienced engineers, sharing your knowledge, and fostering a collaborative environment. You thrive in a team setting and are eager to contribute to the innovative projects at Apple, shaping the future of user interfaces.

Desirable

Experience with continuous integration and automated testing frameworks is a plus. Familiarity with quality engineering practices and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams will enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will architect, implement, and maintain complex firmware designs for Apple's embedded sensors. You will define and bring up new sensing chipsets and processors, ensuring they meet the specifications from initial design through to production. Your active participation in the design process will involve close collaboration with both internal and external partners, ensuring that the firmware aligns with the overall product vision.

You will write clean and sustainable code, focusing on the unique requirements of embedded systems. Debugging and resolving system issues will be a critical part of your responsibilities, as will specifying and documenting communication protocols and system states. You will work with quality engineering teams to inform and craft their testing strategies, ensuring that the firmware meets the high standards expected of Apple products.

Mentoring less experienced firmware engineers will be a key aspect of your role, helping to build a strong team capable of tackling complex challenges. You will also have the opportunity to influence the design and development of innovative sensing interfaces that power Apple's iconic products.
