Who you are

You have a strong background in firmware development, particularly for embedded systems, with experience in architecture and implementation. You are skilled in C programming and have a solid understanding of Embedded Linux, enabling you to write clean, robust, and sustainable code tailored for complex firmware designs. Your experience includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and quality assurance, to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for efficiently debugging and resolving system issues related to firmware. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to contribute to the design process, working closely with both internal and external partners.

Desirable

Experience with custom silicon design and hardware bring-up is a plus, as is familiarity with communication protocols and system states. You are comfortable specifying and documenting feature requirements in partnership with other firmware and software teams. A passion for user experience and a desire to shape the future of sensing interfaces will set you apart in this role.

What you'll do

As a HID Firmware Engineer at Apple, you will be involved in all phases of product development, from concept reviews to the first customer ship. You will architect, implement, and maintain complex firmware designs for various embedded sensors used in Apple products. Your role will require you to define and bring up new sensing chipsets and processors, ensuring they meet specifications from initial design through to production. You will actively participate in the design process, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional user experiences. Writing clean and testable code will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will debugging and closing out system issues related to your firmware. You will also specify and document communication protocols, system states, and feature requirements, working closely with quality engineering teams to inform and craft their testing strategies.
