Overview
Apple is hiring a Wireless RF PHY Firmware Engineer to develop embedded firmware for SoC bring up and wireless connectivity enablement. You'll work closely with product software and manufacturing teams, focusing on RF calibrations and signal processing algorithms. This role requires experience in embedded systems and firmware development.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in embedded firmware development, particularly in wireless systems — your experience includes working with System on a Chip (SoC) architectures and implementing firmware for various functionalities. You are proficient in C programming and have a solid understanding of embedded Linux environments, which allows you to craft efficient and reliable firmware solutions.
Your expertise extends to signal processing algorithms and RF calibrations — you understand the intricacies of wireless communication and have hands-on experience in performance tuning for optimal system functionality. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to meet productization needs and ensure seamless integration of firmware with hardware components.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail — your ability to analyze complex systems and identify areas for improvement sets you apart. You are also comfortable with system-level API development, enabling effective communication between firmware and software layers.
Desirable
Experience with wireless connectivity technologies and protocols is a plus — familiarity with industry standards and best practices will enhance your contributions to the team. A background in RF/Analog architecture and design will further strengthen your ability to collaborate with design engineers and contribute to innovative solutions.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be a core member of the Wireless SoC firmware team, focusing on PHY bring up and RF calibrations — your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement embedded firmware that enables wireless connectivity features in Apple products. You will collaborate closely with product software and manufacturing teams to ensure that the firmware meets productization requirements and integrates seamlessly with hardware.
You will also be involved in developing SoC test and calibration capabilities for wafer, module, and system factories — this includes creating robust testing frameworks and methodologies to validate firmware performance and reliability. Your work will directly impact the user experience, as you contribute to the development of highly energy-efficient wireless solutions that enhance product functionality.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work alongside RF/Radio design, DVT, PHY, and System engineering teams — your ability to communicate effectively and share insights will help drive the success of the projects you are involved in. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development.
What we offer
Apple provides a dynamic work environment where innovation and creativity are encouraged — you will be part of a world-class vertically integrated engineering team that is dedicated to transforming the user experience through cutting-edge technology. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.
Join us in shaping the future of wireless connectivity — your contributions will play a critical role in delivering functional wireless products to hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
