Who you are
You have a strong background in graphics programming, with experience in developing and optimizing UI rendering engines for both iOS and macOS platforms. Your expertise includes working with graphics APIs and graphics acceleration for 2D or 3D content, and you are skilled in writing graphics shaders and implementing advanced rendering techniques. You possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, allowing you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly with Human Interface teams and higher-level UI frameworks.
You are familiar with the intricacies of GPU programming and have a solid understanding of performance and power optimizations. Your ability to debug and optimize applications ensures that the UI stack remains robust and high-quality. You are passionate about creating seamless user experiences and are eager to contribute to the development of innovative UI effects that enhance the overall user interface.
Desirable
Experience with state-of-the-art 3D graphics APIs and a fundamental knowledge of GPU programming will set you apart. Familiarity with Apple's development environment and tools will be beneficial, as will any previous work on UI frameworks or applications.
What you'll do
In this role, you will focus on the development of the UI rendering engine, which is crucial for supporting various elements and effects in applications built on iOS and macOS. You will collaborate closely with the Human Interface teams to implement advanced UI effects using the Metal API for hardware acceleration on GPUs and other acceleration engines on Apple Silicon. Your work will involve orchestrating operations across graphics acceleration units and display pipelines to ensure optimal performance and quality.
You will be responsible for triaging issues, optimizing performance and power consumption, and improving the overall quality and robustness of the UI stack. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience, making it essential to maintain high standards in rendering quality and efficiency. You will also engage in debugging and optimizing applications to ensure they meet Apple's rigorous performance benchmarks.
