Overview

Apple is hiring a Graphics Power Analysis & Optimization Engineer to support the power activity of GPU development. You'll work with technologies like Python and PowerArtist to create power estimations and optimizations. This position requires 10+ years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong analytical background with over 10 years of experience in power analysis and micro-architecture, particularly in the context of GPU designs. Your expertise in scripting with Python allows you to create efficient solutions for complex power estimation challenges. You are familiar with tools like PowerArtist and PTPX, which you have used to support RTL and gate-level power rollup and analysis. Your experience includes analyzing various GPU workloads to identify power reduction opportunities, showcasing your ability to evaluate and implement power optimizations effectively.

You understand the intricacies of low power microarchitecture and implementation, which enables you to contribute significantly to the design and manufacturing of high-performance, power-efficient processors. Your ability to develop flows and heuristics accelerates power triage on large datasets, making you a valuable asset to any engineering team. You are detail-oriented and well-organized, ensuring that all aspects of power analysis are covered thoroughly.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for creating early power estimations and setting power targets during the architectural evaluation stage of GPU designs. You will support RTL and gate-level power rollup and analysis, ensuring that all power-related metrics are accurately captured and reported. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you analyze various GPU workloads to identify opportunities for power reduction, contributing to the overall efficiency of Apple's products.

You will evaluate and implement power optimizations in both RTL and gates, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that power sign-off tests improve coverage. Your role will also involve developing innovative flows and heuristics to accelerate power triage on large datasets, allowing for quicker decision-making and optimization processes. You will collaborate with other engineers to ensure that the power activity aligns with Apple's high standards for performance and efficiency.

What we offer
