Who you are

You have a strong background in computer architecture and a passion for tackling complex challenges — your experience includes investigating and evaluating power, performance, and area (PPA) tradeoffs in high-performance systems. You are well-versed in low power design techniques and have a keen eye for identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption across various workloads.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers from different disciplines — your ability to communicate effectively with driver, compiler, and application engineers allows you to drive impactful improvements in GPU power efficiency. You are organized and detail-oriented, ensuring that your analyses and insights are actionable and contribute to the overall success of the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop energy models that provide early power estimations and conduct what-if analyses to explore performance per watt tradeoffs. You will analyze power consumption throughout the GPU, identifying areas where energy can be reduced and implementing techniques to achieve these goals. Your work will involve collaborating with architects and micro-architects to prototype solutions that enhance the architecture and micro-architecture of next-generation GPUs.

You will also develop tools to aid in the measurement, visualization, and analysis of GPU energy, ensuring that your findings are easily interpretable and actionable. Conducting directed studies will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you prototype solutions aimed at improving power efficiency across the entire GPU stack. Your contributions will play a vital role in ensuring that Apple’s products remain power-efficient and high-performing.
