Who you are
You have a strong foundation in computer architecture and a passion for tackling complex challenges. Your experience includes investigating and evaluating power, performance, and area (PPA) tradeoffs, which allows you to contribute effectively to GPU development. You are well-organized and detail-oriented, ensuring that your analyses are thorough and insightful. Your knowledge of low power design principles enables you to identify opportunities for energy reduction across various components of the GPU architecture.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with driver, compiler, application engineers, architects, and designers. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly helps you drive power reduction techniques across the entire stack. You are adept at developing tools for measurement, visualization, and analysis of GPU energy, which enhances your team's ability to make informed decisions.
What you'll do
In this role, you will develop micro-architectural level energy models for early power estimation and conduct what-if analyses to explore performance per watt tradeoff scenarios. You will analyze power consumption throughout the GPU, identifying areas where energy can be reduced. Your work will involve driving power reduction techniques across the entire stack, collaborating with various engineering teams to understand and improve the power efficiency of high-value workloads.
You will also develop tools that aid in the measurement and visualization of GPU energy, providing insights that will inform architectural and micro-architectural improvements. Conducting directed studies to prototype solutions for next-generation GPUs will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you work to enhance the architecture and micro-architecture to achieve lower power consumption.
