Overview
Apple is hiring an ASIC Design Engineer - Cache Controller to develop hardware for high-performance system on a chip (SoC) memory subsystems. You'll work with RTL and micro-architecture, focusing on cache design and performance trade-offs.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a foundational understanding of memory subsystems and are eager to dive into the world of ASIC design. With academic experience in RTL and micro-architecture development, you are ready to tackle the challenges of high-performance systems. You possess a good understanding of performance, power, and area (PPA) trade-offs, which will be essential in your role. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is your starting point, and you are excited to apply your knowledge in a practical setting.
Desirable
While you may not have industry experience yet, any background in cache design or familiarity with different memory organizations will be a plus. If you have insights into multi-processor cache coherence protocols or high-performance coherent memory systems, that would further enhance your candidacy. An advanced degree, such as a Master's in a relevant field, is also appreciated but not required.
What you'll do
In this role, you will design and develop hardware for the cache subsystem within high-performance SoCs. Your responsibilities will include developing cache micro-architecture based on architectural guidelines and conducting model analysis to explore trade-offs in system performance, area, and power consumption. You will also be involved in the register-transfer level (RTL) design of various sections in the cache subsystem, ensuring that your designs meet the high standards expected at Apple. Collaborating with the physical design team, you will work on timing closure for the cache subsystem, ensuring that all components function seamlessly together.
What we offer
At Apple, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of mobile processing systems. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to projects that have a significant impact on the future of mobile computing. We foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. Join us in shaping the future of technology at Apple.
