Security Engineer • Principal

Who you are

You have a strong background in security engineering, with a focus on identifying and resolving security issues across various platforms, including public cloud and applications. Your experience spans at least 5 years, where you've tackled complex security challenges and designed scalable architectures that protect services and customer data.

You possess deep technical knowledge in cloud security, particularly with AWS, and are proficient in using tools like Docker and Terraform to implement security solutions. Your expertise in Linux and Python allows you to develop innovative defenses against evolving security threats.

You excel in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with engineering, product, privacy, legal, and compliance teams to translate security requirements into practical, developer-friendly solutions. Your ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical partners is a key strength.

You are proactive in identifying new approaches and tools that make secure-by-design the default path for engineering teams, ensuring that security is embedded into everything built at Apple.

Desirable

Experience with Elasticsearch and Cloudflare is a plus, as is familiarity with incident response and threat modeling. You are also encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives.

What you'll do

In this role, you will tackle critical security challenges across Apple's datacenter and public cloud-based infrastructure. You will identify, design, and implement innovative security solutions that protect systems and services while enabling engineers to build quickly and safely.

You will work on translating emerging threats into concrete defenses, ensuring that security is not an obstacle but a paved path for development teams. Your responsibilities will include designing secure architectures, conducting security assessments, and implementing best practices across the organization.

You will lead initiatives to strengthen security capabilities and embed protection into systems from the ground up. This involves collaborating with various teams to ensure that security requirements are met and that solutions are practical and user-friendly.

You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of security awareness within the organization. Your leadership will help shape the security posture of Apple, making it a priority in all engineering efforts.
