You'll work closely with the product design team to define mechanical requirements and validate designs. This role requires a strong knowledge of solid mechanics and experience in FEA.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong knowledge of solid mechanics and experience in implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA) — you understand the intricacies of product design and the importance of predictive simulation in engineering excellence. Your attention to detail and commitment to verification and validation ensure that you deliver high-quality results. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about creating cutting-edge products that can transform industries and improve lives.
With a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or a similar discipline, you bring a solid educational foundation to your work. You are eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the success of innovative products like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Your ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders is key to your success in this role.
What you'll do
As a core member of the Product Design FEA team, you will drive the design of groundbreaking products using predictive finite element simulation. You will build and run product models for important design load cases, ensuring that all mechanical requirements are met. Your role will involve interacting closely with the cross-functional design team to define new load cases and product-level mechanical requirements, which will directly impact the success of future Apple products.
You will help test, characterize, and develop new material models, bridging the gap between simulation and testing through highly instrumented tests and rigorous validation. Your contributions will be integral to the product design process from the earliest stages, allowing you to engineer innovative products that push the boundaries of what is possible. You will be expected to stay updated on the latest advancements in simulation technology and apply them to your work, ensuring that Apple remains at the forefront of product design.
What we offer
At Apple, you will be part of a team that is committed to innovation and engineering excellence. We offer a collaborative work environment where your ideas and contributions are valued. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting products in the industry, making a real impact on people's lives. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your passion for engineering and design is what matters most.
