Overview

Benevity is seeking a Senior Staff Developer to lead full stack development and architecture initiatives. You'll work with Java and cloud technologies to shape technical strategies across teams. This role requires extensive experience in full stack development.

Who you are

You have over 5 years of hands-on experience in full stack development and architecture, demonstrating a strong ability to design and implement solutions across various technology domains. Your expertise includes working with public cloud platforms and ensuring compliance and data quality in multi-region environments. You are well-versed in security best practices and have a solid understanding of domain-driven design patterns, which you apply to create robust and scalable applications.

You possess a deep knowledge of data processing and lifecycle management, allowing you to effectively manage data quality and observability. Your experience includes developing personalized search solutions and indexing strategies that enhance user experience. You are committed to maintaining technical documentation that captures architectural decisions and design patterns, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive technology initiatives that align with business goals. Your communication skills enable you to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of project objectives. You are passionate about mentoring junior developers, sharing your knowledge, and helping them grow in their careers.

Desirable

Experience with agile methodologies and familiarity with CI/CD practices would be advantageous. A background in working with Fortune 100 companies or similar organizations is a plus, as is any exposure to social impact technology.

What you'll do

In your role as a Senior Staff Developer at Benevity, you will take the lead on full stack solution design for various technology initiatives. You will collaborate with multiple teams to ensure that the solutions you design are not only effective but also scalable and secure. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the architecture of applications, ensuring that they meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

You will be instrumental in shaping the technical strategy of the organization, working closely with the Director of Engineering to align technology initiatives with business objectives. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation that outlines architectural decisions and design patterns, ensuring that all team members are aligned and informed.

Your role will involve hands-on development, where you will apply your expertise in Java and cloud technologies to build and enhance applications. You will also focus on data processing and lifecycle management, ensuring that data quality and compliance are prioritized in all projects.

You will engage in regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback to your peers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team. Additionally, you will mentor junior developers, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers.
