Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in database reliability engineering, with a strong focus on ensuring high availability and performance of datastores. You understand the importance of observability, automation, and tooling in maintaining operational efficiency. Your background includes working with both relational and NoSQL databases, and you are comfortable with database maintenance tasks such as upgrades and performance optimization.

You are proficient in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and have experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Your familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform allows you to manage database infrastructure effectively. You have a solid understanding of Linux systems and are skilled in monitoring and alerting using tools like Grafana and Elasticsearch.

You thrive in a collaborative environment, working alongside Site Reliability Engineers and Software Engineers to foster a platform mindset. Your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams ensures that you can empower feature teams with the necessary database tooling and guidelines. You are proactive in incident response and have experience mitigating issues related to datastores in production environments.

Desirable

Experience with database-as-a-service models and providing training and support to feature teams is a plus. Familiarity with cost optimization strategies for database usage will also be beneficial in this role.
