You have 5+ years of experience in database reliability engineering or a related field — you've developed a deep understanding of database systems and their operational challenges. Your expertise in PostgreSQL and AWS Aurora is complemented by your familiarity with Kafka and Couchbase, allowing you to manage complex datastore environments effectively.

You are skilled in reliability engineering practices — ensuring high availability and performance through observability, automation, and tooling is second nature to you. You understand the importance of backup strategies and disaster recovery planning, and you have a track record of implementing these practices successfully.

Your experience includes incident response for datastore-related issues — you thrive in high-pressure situations and can quickly diagnose and mitigate problems to minimize downtime. You are also adept at empowering feature teams with the necessary database tooling and guidelines, fostering a culture of shared responsibility.

You stay up-to-date with the latest datastore technologies and best practices — your commitment to continuous learning ensures that you can share valuable insights with your team and contribute to their growth. You are a collaborative team player who values knowledge sharing and mentorship.

What you'll do

As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer at Doctolib, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our main datastores. You will be responsible for maintaining high availability through observability, automation, and tooling, while also focusing on database maintenance, including upgrades and performance optimization.

You will participate in incident response for datastore-related issues during business hours, collaborating with feature teams to resolve problems efficiently. Your role will also involve empowering feature teams with database tooling and rationalized guidelines, ensuring they can manage and use their databases effectively.

You will share your expertise with the team, staying informed about the evolution of datastore technologies and industry trends. Your contributions will help shape our approach to database reliability and foster a platform mindset as we transition to a “you build it, you run it” paradigm.
