Overview

Enviva is seeking a Vessel Operator to support port operations in Chesapeake, VA. You'll ensure safe docking and loading processes while operating heavy equipment. This role requires experience in vessel operations and safety protocols.

Job Description

Who you are

You have experience in vessel operations, ensuring safe docking, undocking, and mooring processes. You are skilled in line handling and control room operations, ensuring vessels are loaded correctly and safely. Your background includes operating heavy equipment such as loaders and cranes, and you are familiar with safety protocols and training requirements. You understand the importance of quality assurance and are capable of collecting samples and maintaining QA/QC records. You are detail-oriented, ensuring that all operations meet safety criteria and that the work area is kept clean and orderly.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe docking and undocking of vessels, managing line handling during these processes. You will operate control room systems to monitor loading rates and gate controls, ensuring that operations run smoothly. You will also be tasked with operating heavy equipment on the vessel, including loaders and cranes, and will complete necessary training for man overboard situations. Additionally, you will receive wood pellets into the port, recording data for accurate billing and maintaining safety in the scale area. Your role will also involve communicating professionally with suppliers and operating shuttle wagons as directed. You will collect samples and test finished goods, maintaining quality records and making adjustments to equipment as needed to achieve desired throughput and quality results.
