Overview

Who you are
You are a detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence. You understand the importance of following protocols and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of vessels. Your ability to communicate professionally and courteously with suppliers is essential in maintaining strong working relationships. You are comfortable operating heavy equipment and have a willingness to learn and adapt to the demands of the role. You are proactive in maintaining cleanliness and organization in your work environment, ensuring that all areas are neat and free of debris.
Desirable
Experience in port operations or a related field is a plus, as is familiarity with quality assurance and control processes. You may have a background in logistics or transportation, which will help you understand the complexities of vessel operations. A willingness to undergo training for specific equipment and safety protocols will be beneficial in your role.
What you'll do
As a Vessel Operator at Enviva, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe docking, undocking, and mooring of vessels. You will handle lines during the docking and undocking processes, ensuring that all operations are executed safely and efficiently. You will monitor control room operations to ensure that vessels are loading correctly, managing load rates and gate control while mitigating any issues that arise. Operating heavy equipment such as loaders, cranes, and ship loaders will be a key part of your daily responsibilities. You will also complete necessary training, including man overboard training and shifting vessel requirements, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
In addition to loading operations, you will receive wood pellets into the port and record data to ensure accurate billing. Maintaining the safety of the scale area and ensuring that loads meet safety criteria will be crucial. You will communicate effectively with suppliers and operate shuttle wagons as directed. Quality control will also be part of your role, as you will collect samples and test finished goods delivered by truck and rail, maintaining QA/QC records and following established quality standard operating procedures.
Housekeeping will be an ongoing responsibility, as you will ensure that your work area is kept neat and orderly. Operating mobile equipment such as Bobcats and Lulls to move dust collection bags will also be part of your duties. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will contribute to the overall success of Enviva's port operations.
