Overview

Google is hiring a Data Center Services Manager to oversee major construction and capital improvement projects in data center environments. You'll manage teams and vendor relationships while ensuring projects meet safety, cost, and quality goals. This role requires 10 years of experience in project management and technical fields.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with 10 years of experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary projects. Your experience includes people management, specifically managing teams, and you have a strong understanding of data center environments and equipment. A Master's or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred, showcasing your advanced knowledge in these areas.

You possess extensive experience with data center equipment, including switch gears, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, and security monitoring systems. Your familiarity with start-up and commissioning processes allows you to effectively oversee project execution. You are skilled in requirements gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, planning, and scheduling, ensuring that objectives are achieved on time and within budget.

Your ability to manage vendor relationships and understand standard practices in the design and construction industry sets you apart. You have knowledge of fast-track design build processes, associated documents, and agreements, which is crucial for the successful delivery of projects. You are a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and continuously seeks improvements, understanding that even small changes can have a significant impact.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be accountable for major new construction projects and capital improvement projects in existing facilities. You will utilize both internal and external resources to develop detailed designs and ensure successful commissioning, closeout, and hand-off to operations while meeting the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Your oversight will ensure that all projects meet safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals, as well as all customer demands.

You will lead a team of engineers and project managers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include developing project plans, managing timelines, and ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned throughout the project lifecycle. You will also be involved in the continuous improvement of processes and systems within the data center, leveraging your technical expertise to drive advancements in facility operations.
