Customer Engineer • Senior

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role. Your background includes extensive experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms. You are skilled in engaging with technical stakeholders or executive leaders, and you have experience in programming languages, debugging, systems design, prototyping, demos, or customer workshops.

You have a proven track record of selling technical solutions in areas such as infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data management, data analytics, Cloud AI, networking, migrations, and security. You are adept at driving the entire business cycle, from defining delivery and consumption plans to transitioning them for execution. Your experience includes building long-term technical strategies to uncover new workloads with customers and migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.

You possess a strong understanding of security concepts, including encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and penetration testing. As a Platform Customer Engineer, you will partner with technical Sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to customers, serving as their primary technical partner and trusted advisor.

What you'll do

In this role, you will engage in technical-led conversations to understand customer business issues and troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks. You will conduct proofs of concepts and demos, using your expertise to architect cross-pillar cloud solutions that address these business challenges. You will facilitate the post-sales transition by supporting pricing activities and transitioning the final delivery plan to implementation teams.

You will maintain awareness of progress against the delivery plan, providing support to cross-functional teams during ramp, delivery, migration, or implementation phases. Your role will require you to lead technical engagements throughout the solution phase, ensuring that customer needs are met and that solutions are effectively implemented.
